Using Banners For Click Throughs
If you are trying to sell anything on the Internet, you need a good looking banner. That’s just a fact of marketing on the Internet. There really isn’t any way around it.
Banners basically serve two purposes: branding a company or a product/service and drawing traffic to your site through click-throughs.
Let’s take a look at click-through banners.
Click-Through with Banners: Past, Present, and Future
Banners were all the rage several years ago and they were quite successful too. With the newness of it all, many potential customers clicked-through to the site of the banner maker.
However, recently click-throughs have really slowed down. Savvy Net users know where they want to go and aren’t as easily lured to click-through with the banners. But there is still is a lot of opportunity to make money and to get visitors if you know how to design a click-through banner.
In the future, it’s tough to see click-through banners making a major comeback. But this doesn’t mean that ad banners are about to die. There will always be some traffic and sales generated by click-throughs. What’s more, click-through banners may come to be seen as ads that help brand even if they don’t produce an immediate visit.
Tips to Make Successful Click-Through Banners
The most important thing you want with your click-through banners is words that cause the potential customer to act. These words and phrases include things like: “click now”, “click here”, “click to visit”, and “click for your free product.
The next thing you want to do is keep the banner simple and direct. This actually accomplishes two things. It keeps things simple for the customer so that he/she knows the purpose of the banner. Also, banners that are too complicated may take too much time to load and will either annoy the site visitor or will never be seen at all.
As with all sales techniques, it’s important to add a sense of urgency to your banner as well. If a customer doesn’t click right away, chances are the customer will ever click. Therefore you need to include words and graphics that will entice the customer to click-through right away.
Finally, you want to make sure you use colors to your advantage. Different colors have different effects on people. Make sure you use the colors that are most beneficial to you and your product/service. You also want to be consistent with your colors and make sure you use colors that help your important words and phrases stand out within the banner.
Remember the Goals and then Strive to Achieve Them
The main thing you want to remember when designing banners is that you want to get the attention of visitors and then you want to turn their attention into action. So design your banners with these two goals in mind and then create the appropriate words and graphics to achieve these goals.
